I was invited to propose a sculpture for the Altona Park in collaboration with the children’s advisory board of an institution that was being created at the time: the Children’s Art Lab / KinderKunstLabor. I came with a suitcase full of textiles and invited the kids to unpack them: very few instructions and a lot of spontaneity transformed that spring morning into a playful, joyful, magic moment.
We let the kids take the lead and went with the flow…
This co-creative exercise functioned as field research for me to understand how kids use and read the space, and therefore to guide my artistic process.
