The House of Open Gates is designed under the motto of “transcultural hospitality” (or “transkulturelle Gemütlichkeit”). A space to host and foster the most diverse, horizontal, unlikely and warm-hearted encounters – during the 1-year process of building the house, while it is open to the public, and afterward. A dialogical space where people of different social and cultural backgrounds de facto meet, thus relationships can interweave, prejudices can be deconstructed, and the understanding of humanity as diverse and egalitarian can be cultivated – while guests share a cup of coffee or tea.
